Inheriting from popular and rural tradition, dance is a inseparable part of Armenian culture.
It belongs to the artistic genius of the ancient Armenians whose transmission was carried through the centuries to flourish today, outsidethe borders of Armenia.
To preserve this rich heritage, renowned choreographers have undertaken in Armenia since the 70s, a meticulous collection of themes and not by region. Subsequently, these dances were choreographed and presented on stage by different sets of state of Armenia.
Yeraz Dance Company was founded in 2000 in Alfortville(France), by the artistic director-choreographer Christina Galstian Agoudjian. The artistic approach of the company is based on two requirements: to preserve and transmit the rich repertoire of Armenian dance, while giving ample room for original creation.
The repertoire of choreographies Yeraz is largely inspired by themes drawn from the traditions, legends and history of Armenia. Its originality lies in a scenic approach inspired sometimes contemporary, classical models existing issued to be open to innovative artistic choices integrating tradition and modernity.
Armenian dance here is reappropriated, reinvented, thereby perpetuating the legacy of an art still alive.
Perfume of Armenia, with 60 artists on stage,is the first creation of the Company.
