"We are the Fouteurs de Joie and we never take it seriously.
We are a funny tribe of happy bums
who come swirling from the slums
Wandering minstrels with round bellies,
Our laughter bathes streets and cities.
We give out joy and sow feeling."
The very special spirit of the Fouteurs de Joie is best expressed on stage. They play most of their concerts unplugged (except for the support of two static microphones on a small stand in front of the stage). This option provides for a full intimacy with the audience and gives them absolute freedom to move about on the stage. It is an aesthetical choice as well, as it leaves the stage void of all usual amplification material.
Their first studio recording « Le bal des Souffleurs » (The Prompters' Ball) was released in April 2005 (produced by Axel Record and distributed by Beside Records). They are currently working on their second recording.
Les Fouteurs de Joie are over ten years old. The five musicians of this romantic and burlesque quintet are bound by a strong friendship and a common musical impetus. Most of them first met within the Troupe du Phénix, itinerant theatre company (with, among others, the show "Le Petit Monde de Georges Brassens"), which toured France in a caravan.
They performed onstage for such festivals as the " Festi’Val de Marne " , « les Effervessonnes », « La Fête de l’Huma », « Chantons sous les Pins » (" singing under the pine trees "), « Festival européen de l’humour », as an opening act for Juliette, Sanseverino, or La rue Kétanou.
In Paris, they performed at the Lavoir Moderne, the Bataclan, the Divan du Monde, the Mouffetard theatre, the Cabaret Sauvage, and the Limonaire. They can play major venues and open air festivals with removable platforms alike. But all stages have to be durable and well-grounded, as the Fouteurs de Joie live are likely to make mountains move !
