Fleurs Noires is a tango orchestra composed of ten French and Argentinian female musicians (3 violins, 1 piano, 1 cello, 1 double bass, 3 bandoneons and 1 singer). While tango is a rather masculine music evoking women, love, grief and passion, the sensuality of the music itself is a matter of femininity.
Together, these women deliver a vigourously contemporary tango that stands appart from traditional tango and electro. Experienced classical and popular musicians, these women mix their cultural differences to the originality of their repertoire. From this tango emanates a sensual strenght, full of different shades, which is the result of the variety of its roots. Fleurs Noires revives the historical link between Paris and Buenos Aires by emancipating the place of women in this music originally made by men.
Fleurs Noires disposes of a repertoire based on original compsitions created especially for the orchestra by qualified composers such as Eduardo Acuna, Andrea Marsili, Víctor Parma and Gerardo Jerez Le Cam. These creations take the essence of tango, transform it into a contemporary language and give the orchestra a tone based on the authenticity of the tradition combined with a hint of modernity.
